Complete and corrected set of galley proofs

At the heart of the writer’s creative process

Corrected proofs for his novel The Human Beast, the seventeenth volume in the series Les Rougon-Macquart; Paris, January 1890, 45 galley proofs printed on one side only, comprising 38 in plano, 5 in folio, and 2 in quarto. In excellent condition despite a few marginal frays to the upper edge of the first galleys and some occasional foxing. One of the very rare Zola relics still remaining in private hands.

Preserving and passing on

Holding an original letter or manuscript is to draw closer to its author and their era, to perceive their thoughts and emotions. These documents convey a unique voice and bring to life a genuine, tangible human story.
