Letterhead of the Revue de Paris / Quai Malaquais, 17

Receipt signed by Gautier for his article on the Salon of 1841

The article related to this receipt appears to correspond to pages 255 to 270 of the Revue de Paris in 1841.
Organized at the Louvre during the July Monarchy, Gautier offers a detailed critique of the country’s most important art exhibition. Painting, sculpture, and architecture were all represented. Delacroix, so dear to the poet’s heart, presented three works: The Entry of the Crusaders into Constantinople, The Shipwreck of Don Juan, and Jewish Wedding in Morocco.
