Throughout her life, George Sand became interested in theater in all its forms and in particular its marginal forms, including improvised theater and puppet theater. For her, theater meant a place to learn the actor’s game and a pedagogical platform; which trains and instructs the actor as the spectator. The private and even intimate aspect of the theater performed within her family in Nohant is opposed to the public aspect of its plays performed in Parisian theater for thirty years.
