Note of thanks to the collector Pierre Lévy for sending a work devoted to Charles Dufresne
« Merci, cher Monsieur, de ce beau catalogue Dufresne. Pour vous et pour les vôtres, acceptez, je vous prie, tous mes vœux.
Cl. Lévi-Strauss »
The work discussed here brings together ten color lithographs of works by Charles Dufresne. The collector and industrialist Pierre Lévy had several canvases from his collection reproduced by the Mourlot workshop; the set was published as a portfolio presenting the ten plates by the painter-engraver in in-plano format. A great admirer of contemporary art, Claude Lévi-Strauss maintained regular correspondence with the collector, from whom he received books and reproductions showcasing various groups of works from his collection
