Henry Miller »
Miller wrote Into the Nightlife while living in a small house on Partington Ridge, where he resided from 1944 to 1947. During this time, he mingled with several bohemian writers and artists, including Harry Partch, Emil White, and Jean Varda. The book notably references the artists settled at Anderson Creek, known as the Anderson Creek Gang, and continues the themes of Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch. Illustrated by the artist Bezalel Schatz, the work was published in an edition of 400 copies by Miller and Schatz. The present promotional leaflet accompanied the book.
