Magnificent portrait of the Imperial Prince by the Elliott & Fry studio
The Imperial Prince is depicted in all his elegance, seated, with the gaze of his mother, the Empress, filled with melancholy.
Elliott & Fry is a Victorian photography studio founded in 1863 by Joseph John Elliott and Clarence Edmund Fry. For a century, their main activity was taking and publishing photographs of the Victorian public as well as notable figures from social, artistic, scientific, and political circles. In the 1880s, the company operated three studios and four large warehouses for negatives, with a printing workshop in Barnet.
