The print is accompanied by a dedication of the composer in the lower margin: “à Mr René Thorel, son dévoué Gabriel Fauré”
René Thorel was an officer who published Souvenirs de guerre. He frequented the musical circle and was also in contact with Saint-Saëns and D’Indy.
