Not hiding his aversion to society and endowed with fragile health, Maupassant took a cruise on his private yacht, named “Bel-Ami”, after his 1885 novel. This cruise, where he passes through Cannes, Saint-Raphaël and Saint-Tropez inspires him Sur l’eau. He retraces his journey in La Vie errante.
