Scarce letter from Dreyfus, contemporary of the Affair, struggling to find a new home
Alfred Bruneau is a musician and friend of Emile Zola. Through architect Frantz Jourdain (another friend of Zola’s), Bruneau helped Dreyfus find an apartment. Although he had been pardoned by Emile Loubet a year earlier after the trial was re-reviewed in Rennes, Dreyfus had difficulty finding a new home in 1901, the majority of the owners rejecting his name.
