Je comptais vous voir hier – ces messieurs sont venus dîner en pique-nique chez moi, chacun s’était chargé de vous prévenir, tous ont oublié.
Voulez-vous que nous soupions ce soir – Vous plaît-il d’amener ou Adèle ou quelqu’autre – Je préviendrai Charlotte – ou plutôt vous la préviendrez et nous passerons de bonnes heures ou bien si vous l’aimez mieux Elisabeth et Nathalie

This letter was probably written during Dumas’ exile in Brussels, alongside Victor Hugo. The two writers had protested against the Coup of Napoleon III. It was also at this time that Dumas began writing his Memoirs.
