Victor Hugo lived the last years of his life in a hotel on the former Avenue d’Eylau, which was named Avenue Victor-Hugo in 1881, at n°502 (now n°124). He was therefore sometimes sent his letter as follows: “To Monsieur Victor Hugo, En son avenue, à Paris”
