Simone de Beauvoir sends ultimate autograph corrections of The Second Sex to her typist

Madame Mandinaud was Simone de Beauvoir’s typist. It was her who transcribed all the works of the novelist including The Second Sex and The Mandarins
The paper on which Simone de Beauvoir wrote had been given to her by american novelist and essayist Nelson Algren, his lover at the time, whom she had met for the first time in 1947.
The Second Sex, considered the most important feminist essay of the 20th century, was published on October 28, 1949, just over a month after this letter was sent.
