Precious unpublished portrait of the artist
We know of a variant of this portrait, in which Rops appears in profile, taken during the same photo shoot, and of which there are three known copies.
This unpublished portrait depicts the artist in a three-quarter bust. Elegantly dressed as usual, his fixed gaze seems to be looking at the horizon.
The Dandoy brothers, Héliodore and Armand (1834-1898) were close friends of Félicien Rops from their youth. Both of them made portraits of the latter.
