Remarkable autograph quotation signed by Chateaubriand, from his Memoirs from Beyond the Grave

Rome déchue offre un asyle aux puissances tombées :
Ses ruines sont un lieu de franchises pour la gloire persécutée et les talents malheureux
Chateaubriand”

This quote is taken from the third volume of Memoirs from Beyond the Grave. It opens with the Restoration in 1815 and ends with the 1930 Revolution.
The Memoirs from Beyond the Grave is Chateaubriand’s main work, whose writing began in 1809 and ended in 1841. Chateaubriand wanted these memoirs to be published only after his death, hence their title.
