French pianist, organist and composer Gabriel Fauré was largest with Camille Saint-Saëns and Gustave Lefèvre. In 1896, he succeeded Jules Massenet as professor of composition at the Paris Conservatory.

Gabrielle Krauss (1842-1906) is an Austrian lyric artist. She has created major roles in operas by Anton Rubinstein, Charles Gounod, Gabriel Fauré, among others.
