Huysmans announces the imminent extraction of part of its teeth
“Cher ami, des nouvelles ? – Les mêmes – sinon que, cette semaine, on se décide enfin à commencer l’extraction d’une partie des dents. Celà me promet quelques journées agréables ! Enfin c’est ainsi. Comme il y a des boisseaux de douleurs à remplir, avant ou après – il faut se dire que ce sera toujours autant de mains à faire peser après. Ce sont des avoues d’hoirie, comme on dit dans la belle longue procédure.

Joris-Karl Huysmans is a writer and art critic. Defender of naturalism in its early days (he was part of Les Soirées de Médan alongside, among others, Zola and Maupassant). He parted with this school to explore the new possibilities offered by symbolism and became the main representative of aesthetics at the end of the 19th century.
