Autograph document signed by Peguy about the Société nouvelle de librairie et d’édition

“Reçu la somme de trois cents francs, montant des intérêts échus du premier janvier au 30 juin 1902 de la créance représentative des deux cents actions que j’avais dans la Société nouvelle de librairie et d’édition.
Charles Peguy”

In early 1898, thanks to a small capital from his in-laws, Charles Péguy bought, 17 rue Cujas, the shop that became the Georges Bellais Bookstore; the bookstore publishes the Tharaud brothers, Romain Rolland, Charles Andler and Jean Jaurès. In August 1899, bankruptcy threatened, and thanks to Lucien Herr, a new bookshop and publishing company took over the company, of which Péguy was only the employee of the board of directors, including Herr, Léon Blum, François Simiand.
