Rare contact sheet from Doisneau’s legendary photo shoot of the poet in the Montmartre district

It was during a session with Prévert on the rue des Abbesses and in the surrounding streets that Doisneau produced a series of portraits of the poet, one of which would become legendary. This original contact sheet reveals a series not selected by the photographer, offering a rare glimpse into the creative sequence of a brilliant artist. In the first three frames, the poet can be seen walking toward the lens, shot from a low angle. The other frames show Prévert in close-up, cigarette between his lips and beret on his head: the image of a Parisian of a certain era in his element. It is worth recalling that Prévert had lived at the foot of the hill since 1954, at 6 bis, cité Véron.
