Elegant portrait of Prince Imperial, printed in his honor after his tragic death in Southern Africa

This print was made circa 1875. Louis-Napoleon appears with a clear and determined look.
We can note the mistake made by the photographer in the caption of the print: the Prince Imperial having been killed on June 1 and not on June 2, 1879. This error was reproduced several times on other prints of the young prince by the same photographer:

“Prince Louis Napoleon
Killed 2nd June, 1879, on the Hyotoyozi River,
South Africa”
