A moving portrait of the Imperial Prince. He appears in a great elegance, with a melancholy look like analog to his mother the Empress, and sketching a very slight smile.

The Imperial family and de Pierres family were very close. Jane Thorne (Baronne de Pierres) was one of the six ladies of the Empress’s Palace until the fall of the Empire in 1870.
