A rather uncommon and elegant portrait of young Anton Rubinstein
The piano prodigy appears very handsome, with an intense and pensive gaze
It was from 1844 that Anton, his mother and brother, Nikolai, moved to Berlin where he studied composition and theory with Siegfried Dehn. At this time he met Felix Mendelssohn and Giacomo Meyerbeer, who supported him.
