Superb portrait of the Russian composer, then 33 years old. Tchaikovsky appears with his arms folded, with confident gaze

It was in the same year that Tchaikovsky composed his first piano concerto in B flat minor and which earned him a fierce critic by Nikolai Rubinstein.
