“Mon cher H.P [Hermann-Paul]
Je suis si occupé, préoccupé et débordé de toutes parts en ce moment que je ne trouve pas une heure à vous indiquer dans les jours prochains.
Je me verrai bien volontiers imprimé, mis en pages, orné par vos soins – Mais quoi de moi ? Je n’ai rien d’inédit. Je songe à des Fragments sur Mallarmé tirés l’an dernier à 100 ex. chez Davis et archi-épuisés.

Hermann-Paul (1964-1940) was a French painter and illustrator. Although their common to illustrate fragments of Mallarmé with Paul Valéry did finally not come through, he remained nevertheless for having made illustrations for Henry de Montherlant or Prosper Mérimée in the 1920s.

Paul Valéry, then part of the symbolist movement at the end of the 19th century, had a deep attachment and admiration for Stéphane Mallarmé until his death in 1898, whom he met through André Gide
