Strange request for an appointment, almost mystical, by the author of Carmen

Je ne suis pas là lundi — impossible. Mais dimanche ? Demain dimanche… 3 juin je crois, peux-tu ? Voici la chose : tu te lèves à 5h, 4h et demi même si tu veux. Tu attends l’heure du train — 9h35 gare Saint-Lazare — ligne Saint-Germain, station du Vésinet. Tu arrives à la gare du Vésinet à 10h10, 10h un quart. Tu demandes l’église. On te l’indique, si tu es poli. Tu arrives devant le porche, tu te recueilles, tu entres, tu ne vois rien ! Tu attends. Tout à coup des accents mélodieux s’élèvent jusqu’au plafond de l’église. C’est un de mes amis qui chante. Je tiens l’orgue. Tu t’attendris car tu as faim. La musique finie, tu sors, tu attends, je parais !!!!!!!!!
Déjeuner. Si tu veux passer la journée avec moi, merci. Tu dîneras et tu fileras tard. Si tout ça te goûte, arrive, pas bien mis… À demain j’éspère 9h35

In his maisonette du Vésinet (bought by his father Adolphe in 1863), Georges Bizet alternated between compositions and food work. It was after the Commune that he finally settled in Port-Marly and the following year in Bougival, where he died suddenly in June 1875.
