Degas invites his sculptor friend Bartholomé to dinner with Forain and Rouart

« Lundi, mon cher ami, les [Jean-Louis] Forain viennent dîner avec les jeunes [Henri] Rouart.

Degas
Samedi »

One of the most important sculptors of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Albert Bartholomé (1848-1928) was one of Degas’ intimates.
Degas ironically describes his friend the painter Henri Rouart as “young”, given that he is the oldest of the group.
