Mauriac thanked his correspondent for the glowing review published in L’Opinion for his recently published novel, La Chair et le Sang

« Monsieur,

Published in October 1920 by Emile-Paul Frères, La Flesh et le Sang est l’histoire is inspired by the suicide, in 1909, of Charles Demange, nephew of Maurice Barrès, one of Mauriac’s early literary masters. The writer also returns to his own personal questions and torments of love.
