This photomontage is printed here wider than usual, measuring 10 x 13.5 cm and pasted on strong cardboard, to the credit of the photographer (10.8 x 16.5 cm)

The Prince Imperial is represented here with on knee on the ground, holding his father’s hand, lying on his deathbed.
Empress Eugenie de Montijo stands just behind her son. We can distinguish his portrait by Franz-Xaver Winterhalter, hanging on the wall, testifying to the memory of a bygone past.

Then a little behind appear, from left to right:
Eugène Rouher (1814-1884), former Minister of State of Napoleon III, he took the effective leadership of the Bonapartist party in 1873
Henri Conneau (1803-1877), father of his best friend of the Prince Imperial, Louis Conneau, and confidant of Napoleon III. First physician to the Emperor, deputy of the Somme, senator.
Félix Fleury (1815-1884), close to the emperor, grand squire of the crown, then senator.
Lucien Corvisart (1824-1882), baron, grandnephew of the 1st doctor of Napoleon 1st. Ordinary physician to the Emperor and assistant to the 1st doctor, Henri Conneau.
Firmin Rainbeaux (1834-1916), former wiper of Napoleon III, loyal to the emperor and devoted to the empress.
