2/ MARET Napoleon, Joseph, Hugues (1803-1898) Duke of Bassano. Son of the minister of Napoleon 1st. Diplomat, senator and grand chamberlain of the Emperor. On 20 June 1879, informed by Lord Sydney – sent by Queen Victoria – of the death of the Prince Imperial, he had the sad privilege of announcing the tragic news to Empress Eugenie, circa 1860; CDV format. 3/ CORVISART Lucien (1824-1882) Baron. Great nephew of the 1st doctor of Napoleon 1st. Ordinary physician to the Emperor and assistant to the 1st doctor, Henri Conneau. On 11 July 1879 he drew up with Dr Larrey, on the return from the ashes of the unfortunate Prince who had died in Zululand, the minutes of the identification of his body, circa 1860; CDV format. The Army

1/ CAMBRIDGE, Duke of (1819-1904) Commander-in-Chief of the British Army, he accepted the request of the Prince Imperial to accompany the English troops to Cape Town, circa 1860; cdv format (Maull & Polyblank).

2/ CANROBERT François, Certain (1809-1896) Marshal, senator of the Lot from 1876 to 1879 and of the Charente from 1879 to 1894, he took his place in the group of the Appeal to the people, circa 1860; cdv format (Disdéri).

3/ BOURBAKI Charles, Denis, Sauter (1816-1897) General of division, aide-de-camp to the Emperor (1869), he commanded the imperial guard during the campaign of 1870. Governor of Lyon and commander of the 14th corps. Unwavering support of the Prince Imperial, after having been of his father, who considered, in 1873, relying on his loyalty to renew the “flight of the Eagle”. The death of Napoleon III on 9 January 1873 put an abrupt end to this project, circa 1860; cdv format (L. Pierson)

1/ DARBOY Georges (1813 – executed by the Commune in Paris, May 24, 1871) Bishop of Nancy (from 1859 to 1863), Archbishop of Paris (from 1863 to 1871) and Grand Chaplain of the Empire. He gave communion to the Prince Imperial on 7 May 1868, circa 1860; CDV format. (Bertall & Cie)

2/ BONNECHOSE Henri Marie Gaston, of (1800-1883) Archbishop of Rouen and cardinal, he participated, at the request of the Prince Imperial, in the work of drafting a draft constitution in 1878. The Prince also enlisted the help of his friend Tristan Lambert and the journalist Eugène Loudun. This “committee” worked in the greatest confidentiality, circa 1860; CDV format. (Pierson).

3/ DEGUERRY Gaspard (the abbot) (1794 – executed by the Commune in Paris, May 24, 1871). Parish priest of La Madeleine. He was commissioned to make the religious instruction of the Prince Imperial and to prepare him for his 1st communion, circa 1860; CDV format
