Rare letter from Marie-Christine of Saxony, Princess of Carignan, arranging the transfer of the remains of her late husband who died a few months earlier

“Je n’ai point reçu de réponse à la notte que vous vous étiez chargé de faire parvenir au Ministre de l’intérieur. Je vous prie de tacher d’obtenir une réponse quelconque ou bien de m’indiquer une autre voye par laquelle nous puissions enfin obtenir une permission illimitée pour le dépot dans l’église de Chaillot des tristes restes de ce que j’avois de plus cher au monde. Le jour de mon départ et celui de l’expiration du terme accordé par le préfet de Police [Louis-Nicolas Dubois] étant très prochain je désirerois connaitre avant ce tems le résultat de la démarche que j’ai fait compte toujours. Je vous prie d’[accepter] l’inalterabilité de mes sentimens pour vous. Marie Carignan”

Marie-Christine of Saxony is a princess of the house of Saxony, born in 1770 in Dresden, Germany. Sometimes called Marie-Albertine de Courlande, she was the daughter of Charles Christian of Saxony, Duke of Courland, and therefore the granddaughter of Frederick Augustus, prince elector of Saxony and king of Poland under the name Augustus III.
She married Charles-Emmanuel de Savoie-Carignan (of which we are talking about here) in Augsburg on 24 October 1797, who died in 1800.
Widowed in 1800, she then went into exile in Geneva and Paris, joined the Empire, refused to have her son, the putative heir to the Savoyard throne, raised by the king of Sardinia, but found a Calvinist pastor who instilled in the young man liberal ideas.
